MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee man charged in connection with a murder that happened more than two decades ago pleaded not guilty on Thursday, October 8th.
46-year-old Melvin Jones is accused of killing 24-year-old Ophelia Preston and dumping her body in a trash cart in October of 1994.
Prosecutor say she was chocked to death after they smoked crack.
DNA evidence found on her body linked Jones to the murder.
Jones is currently serving time at the Redgranite Correctional Institute for another homicide with similar circumstances.
He will be in court on October 27th for a scheduling conference.
