Milwaukee police arrest suspects in stolen car, recover gun and drugs

MILWAUKEE -- Officers from District Five of the Milwaukee Police Department arrested two suspects, including a convicted felon, inside a car taken in an armed robbery.

The officers saw the car, a Dodge Caliber, near 1st and Burleigh around 7:50 p.m. on October 8th and recognized it as a vehicle that was previously stolen in an armed robbery in an outside jurisdiction.

The officers attempted to stop the car but the suspects fled in the vehicle and a pursuit was initiated. The car came to a stop near W. Garfield Avenue and  N. Sherman Boulevard and the driver, a 19-year-old Milwaukee man, fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody.

The passenger, a 25-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested inside the car and was in possession of nearly a gram of cocaine. A loaded semi-automatic pistol, stolen in a burglary in another outside jurisdiction, was located in the car.

The passenger is a convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 2007 and the driver is currently out on bail for a felon in possession of a firearm case.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
