"There's a blood trail:" Victim of apparent homicide pulled from KK River now identified

MILWAUKEE -- A trail of blood leads Milwaukee police to a body in the river near 9th and Harrison on the city's south side Friday morning, October 16th. The gruesome find is now the city's latest homicide.

The victim has now been identified as 35-year-old Andre Taylor.

It was just after 9 a.m. when police received a call about a dead body found in the Kinnickinnic River.

"This is unbelievable for me," said Steven Perleberg, lives in neighborhood.

Perleberg says he's seen a lot of violence in his south side neighborhood.

"This one here is really waking me up now to watch where I walk and what I do because I'm afraid I'll end up like that," said Perleberg.

The crime scene tape surrounded 9th and Harrison as police stood over the bridge investigating the city's latest homicide -- while a neighborhood gathered wondering who was down below.

"I can't tell you what happened or what, I don't even, I might know the dude, I don't know," said Perleberg.

Three hours into the investigation, the body was pulled from the river. Police say it was an adult male who died from a gunshot wound.

"And there's a blood trail from the tree all the way down in the creek," said Wanda Corn, lives in neighborhood.

Shortly after noon, the fire department cleaned up what was left.

"It's awful," said Corn.

For long-time resident, Wanda Corn, this scene is nothing new.

"You can hear gunshots around here all the time at night," said Corn.

But Friday morning she heard nothing.

"No, no gunshot. No struggle," said Corn.

So how the man ended up in the river, remains a mystery.

Police say they are still seeking a motive and suspects in this case.

Anyone with information is asked the to call the Milwaukee Police Department.
