"Black Friday of toys:" Holiday shoppers get a head start at 49th annual Toyland Extravaganza

OAK CREEK -- It's only mid-October, but Christmas shopping is in full swing. Blain's Farm & Fleet hosted its 49th annual Toyland Extravaganza on Saturday, October 17th. Holiday shoppers were able to get into the store early and snag some of this year's must haves.

It's not Black Friday -- but it sure looked like it!

"It's the start of the season," said Sandi Rogosienski, shopper.

And for some, the season has begun early. Jill Kramer was first in line at 3:45 a.m., Saturday morning -- and when the clock struck 7 a.m., the line was let loose.

One by one, they headed inside Toyland; 200 shoppers walked through the front door in just the first five minutes.

"That's just awesome. That's cool that our customers are that excited about something that we can give to them," said Kristin Mickelson, Blain's Farm & Fleet.

If you're looking for the most popular toys this year, you can probably guess Frozen is still at the top of the list with a sing-a-long Elsa doll.

For sisters Sandi Rogosienski and Kathi Baril, this is a twenty-year family tradition.

"It's just something that we've always done. We did it with my mom and we just continue," said Sandi.

They say shopping 68 days before Christmas is the perfect time.

"We want to be prepared. This is Black Friday of toys," said Kathi.

And they came for some specific toys. But more importantly it's about quality time spent with the ones you love.

"It is. It is. It's nice. It's bonding. For us making memories," said Sandi and Kathi.

Blain's Farm & Fleet is also hosting its "Kids Helping Kids" campaign. All 36 locations have a bin near the exit doors for shoppers to donate a new, unwrapped gift to needy kids in the area.

At the end of the toy drive, Blain's Farm & Fleet will match $200,000 worth of toys.
