33-year-old man dies in house fire near 44th & Juneau, cause under investigation

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal house fire that occurred late Saturday night, October 17th.

The fire broke out just after 10 p.m. near 44th and Juneau.

When the Milwaukee Fire Department arrived on scene, they found a 33-year-old man unresponsive inside the residence. Lifesaving efforts were attempted, however, they were unsuccessful. The victim has been identified as Matthew Stachelski.

Stachelski was the lone occupant of the residence.

Police say it appears that the fire started in the kitchen area of the home.  At this time, there does not appear to be foul-play involved.

Milwaukee Police and Fire personnel are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
