Busted: FOX6 viewer helps police make arrest after burglary at Azteca in South Milwaukee

SOUTH MILWAUKEE -- One day after FOX6 News showed you surveillance video showing a suspect in a burglary at the Azteca Restaurant in South Milwaukee, we've learned a viewer has helped police make an arrest in this case.

Nahum  Velazco, the restaurant's owner, wanted to share the surveillance video in the hopes the suspect would be identified.

"He spent around, I would say 10 minutes in the office with a little flashlight," Velazco said.

Velazco says the burglary happened around midnight on Saturday, October 17th. A man broke into the restaurant's office, and at one point, he looks directly into the surveillance camera.

"He come in and he see, like that -- the camera and then he tried to cover his face with his shirt," Velazco said.

While rummaging through this back office, there's no question this thief knew he was on camera because he could see himself on the monitor in the office.

"It's funny because he was watching himself the entire time, because the monitor is right there," Velazco said.

Azteca Restaurant burglary

The restaurant's owner says this all began on the restaurant's roof. The suspect broke into an upstairs apartment.

The suspect was able to get about $800 from the restaurant's office -- some of it in rolls of quarters.

Restaurant officials have added stronger locks and doors to replace those that were forced open. Additionally, we're told alarms will be installed, and security procedures will be improved.
