No place for hate: ASA High School Tour group educates on anti-bullying with eye-catching show

GREENFIELD -- Local students are getting a lesson about the consequences of bullying. But it's the way the message is being delivered that really sets it apart.

Think back to your high school days...chances are, you didn't have a school assembly like this.

"I don't remember anything other than thinking I'm glad I'm out of school for this hour," said Micah Kranz, MC and Tour Manager for the ASA High School Tour.

One group is hoping the students at Greenfield High School are so captivated by their show, they actually listen to the message they're there to share.

"It's worked out really well as a creative way to talk to students not at students," said Kranz.

The ASA High School Tour is rolling to schools around the country, stopping in the Milwaukee area this week. They spent Friday at Greenfield High School.

"We bring a bunch of ramps and X-Games athletes and top tier action sports athletes and we basically bring a really exciting show," said Kranz.

And they pair all that action with an underlying anti-bullying message.

"The reason we're doing anti bullying is it's such a weird societal shift and like it's becoming okay to make fun of people and tear people down and as long as it's funny it sort of counts and it's not because it's really detrimental to people," said Kranz.

They hope the unforgettable stunts help the message stick with students and shape the school culture.

"I think it brings a better understanding to what bullying really is and I think if kids know that they're more likely to be aware of it and maybe change their behavior," said Greenfield High School Assistant Principal, David Williams.

This is the 17th year they've toured around the country. In addition to this year's message of anti-bullying, they've also done topics like anti-tobacco in the past.
