ESPN: Vikings Adrian Peterson "questionable" ahead of Sunday's game after swallowing chewing tobacco

DETROIT -- Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was downgraded to "questionable" for Sunday's game at Detroit due to an illness.

ESPN is reporting Peterson started Sunday's game vs. the Lions after he was downgraded on Saturday night.

FOX play-by-play caller Chris Myers said during Sunday's broadcast that Peterson accidentally swallowed chewing tobacco when the team's plane hit turbulence and dropped "900 to 1,000 feet" on its way into Detroit.

Myers indicated Peterson vomited after the flight, according to ESPN.

Peterson was on the field during warmups before Sunday's game vs. the Lions, and ESPN reports he touched the ball nine times during the first quarter.

Peterson jammed the ring finger on his left hand last week against Kansas City. He was originally listed as probable to play the Lions because of that injury.
