Tool shed a total loss after it was found fully engulfed in flames in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Firefighters were called to a residence on Arthur Road in the Town of Polk Monday night, October 26th for a report of a fire in a tool shed.

Upon arrival, deputies and firefighters found a tool shed, which was located approximately 13 feet from the residence, fully engulfed in flames.

Officials say flames from the tool shed had caused the residence to start on fire, with the fire entering the attic area of the residence. The homeowners were able to evacuate from the residence without injury.

The tool shed was a total loss and although the fire was primarily contained to the attic, most of the residential structure will be a loss.

The exact cause of the fire, which originated in the tool shed, is currently unknown -- but is not believed to be suspicious.

This incident remains under investigation by Washington County Sheriff’s Office fire investigators.

A section of Arthur Road near the residence was closed for approximately three hours due to the fire.
