Goalie Juuse Saros stops 23 shots to lead Admirals to 3-0 win over Iowa Wild

DES MOINES -- Goalie Juuse Saros stopped 23 shots to lead the Admirals to a 3-0 win over the Iowa Wild Thursday morning, November 5th.

Saros recorded his second win of the season and first career shutout. He faced 11 shots in the third period. His teammates helped the cause as Milwaukee killed all four Iowa power play opportunities. The Admirals finished with two power play goals in five tries against the Wild.

The Ads tallied the first goal of the game, on the power play, at 7:06 of the first period. Max Gortz held the puck along the left wing boards. He fired a pass into the slot to the stick of Pontus Aberg who redirected the feed high into the right corner of the net. The goal was Aberg’s first of the season. Gortz and Taylor Aronson recorded the assists.

Milwaukee claimed its first two-goal lead of the season when Frederick Gaudreau scored on the power play at 12:32 of the second period. Max Reinhart sent a pass from the right wing boards to Viktor Arvidsson at the left wing wall. Arvidsson quickly passed the puck to the right post where Gaudreau tapped it into the net for his second goal of the season. Arvidsson and Reinhart were awarded helpers.

The Admirals stretched the lead to 3-0 when Eric Robinson picked the puck out of a defender’s skate right in front of the Iowa goal and slid a backhander into the net at 1:39 of the third period. Colton Sissons recorded the lone assist.

The Admirals next game is at Iowa, once again, on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 10:30 am. Milwaukee returns home to host the Lake Erie Monsters Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:05 pm.
