Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio campaign in Wisconsin ahead of debate

PEWAUKEE — Republicans Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush campaigned and raised money in Wisconsin before taking the stage at the fourth Republican presidential debate in Milwaukee.

And joining them both on Monday, November 9th was Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who dropped out of the race for president seven weeks ago.

Rubio attended a Monday afternoon rally in Pewaukee before joining Republican state lawmakers and Walker for a fundraiser hosted by Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos. Vos and 19 other Republican lawmakers recently endorsed Rubio for president.

At least 400 people grabbed free tickets for the Rubio event in Pewaukee.

"America doesn`t owe me anything, but I have a debt to this country I`ll never fully repay. This is not just the country I was born in. This is the nation that literally changed the history of my family," Rubio said.

Rubio's supporters like the story from a son of Cuban immigrants.

"I`m here because I love America, and that`s the reason I`ll vote for Marco Rubio," Terry Veen of Lannon said.

Bush joined with Walker at private charter school in Waukesha on Monday afternoon.

"This isn`t that complicated. If you assume that everybody`s capable of reaching their God-given abilities, then it seems to me that everybody around students ought to be focused on making that happen - tearing down the barriers," Bush said.

"It`s not every day we have someone running for president of the United States in our backyard," Darrell Beauchamp of Wales said.

The two appearances marked the first time Walker has appeared publicly with his former presidential rivals since dropping out of the race September 21st.

But Walker isn't endorsing a candidate at this time -- even declining to tell reporters whether he still believes a governor would make a better president than a senator.
