Warm Up Winter: MFD kicks off project to provide new winter coats for students in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- Some students in Milwaukee will be bundled up warm for the winter, and they have firefighters and you to thank for it.

Milwaukee firefighters have been raising money throughout the year to support the "Warm Up Winter" campaign.

This past June alone, Milwaukee residents helped the Milwaukee Fire Department raise nearly $115,000.

With the money, MFD has purchased new winter coats, which will be handed out to students at 18 schools in the city this year.

A kickoff for the project was held Monday, November 9th at Forest Home Avenue School.
