Akeem Springs has 17 points, 10 rebounds as UWM rallies back to defeat Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Akeem Springs had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Milwaukee rallied back from a double-digit deficit to defeat Santa Clara 71-65 on Sunday.


Springs scored 13 in the second half on 3-of-3 shooting and made 6 of 7 free throws. Austin Arians scored all 14 of his points in the second for Milwaukee (3-0), including the first 5 points of a 12-0 run with 5:47 left that separated the two teams for good.

Matt Hubbard's dunk gave Santa Clara (0-3) an 11-point lead with 1:38 to go in the first half. But the Broncos committed 19 fouls in the second half, and the Panthers hit 19 free throws.

KJ Feagin led the Broncos with 26 points, though he did commit five turnovers. Matt Hauser had 10 points and four assists, and Nate Kratch had nine rebounds, four offensive.
