It's that time again! Winter parking regulations take effect December 1st in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Department of Public Works is ready for winter.

At a news conference Tuesday, November 24th, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett announced the city has more than 300 pieces of snow removal equipment.

Also discussed was the city's new "e-notify" system.

Residents can sign up to receive alerts for snow emergencies, and when the four-inch rule is in effect.

Milwaukee Alderman Nik Kovac explained his district's five-day exception area rules for winter parking.

"If there's snow on the ground, move around. If you can see the curb, you will not be disturbed. In other words, you do have to alternate sides if the snow has not melted or been plowed in the parking lane. So even sides on even nights, odd sides on odd nights. If you see snow on the ground, move around," Kovac said.

The five-day exception area rules are for the 3rd Aldermanic District, which includes Riverwest and the East Side.

Winter parking regulations take effect in Milwaukee on December 1st.
