Shoplifting suspect may be responsible for burglaries on Milwaukee's south side

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police arrested a suspect wanted in multiple burglaries and car thefts on the city's south side following a shoplifting incident at a local business.

Officers responded to the Walmart near 27th and Oklahoma around 8:20 p.m. on Monday, December 7th for a report of a shoplifter. Employees said the suspect had tried to steal items from the store, but he was quickly detained.

MPD officers located the car the suspect had arrived in and determined it was stolen from an outside jurisdiction. The car also had a stolen license plate on it and inside of it officers found a cell phone, latex gloves, rubber gloves, a drill bit, and drug paraphernalia. A check of the suspect’s name also revealed a warrant out for his arrest for a car theft near 7th and Becher in Milwaukee on November 25th.

The suspect, a 25-year-old West Allis man, was arrested and investigators believe he may be responsible for several garage burglaries on the south side over the past few weeks.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
