MPS teacher stopped for speeding in Brookfield, arrested for 4th OWI offense

WAUKESHA -- A 29-year-old woman from Colgate, and a Milwaukee Public Schools teacher, was arrested in the Town of Brookfield Sunday, December 6th for her 4th OWI.

The woman, identified as Danielle Cox, was stopped for speeding at Barker Road near Larkspur Drive around 12:22 a.m. Cox was going 49 mph in a posted 35 mph zone, according to authorities.

Upon making contact with Cox, the officer detected a strong odor of intoxicants — and standard field sobriety tests were administered. According to the criminal complaint, Cox refused to submit to a preliminary breath test and was then placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Cox was transported to the hospital for a legal blood draw -- and then taken to jail. A sample of the defendant's blood was withdrawn and sent to the State Lab of Hygiene in Madison, Wisconsin, for analysis.

Cox has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated -- 4th offense in 5 years.
