Officer-involved shooting near Algoma Town Hall; man shot & taken to the hospital

WINNEBAGO COUNTY — Winnebago County authorities say a man was shot and wounded by police outside the Algoma Town Hall on Thursday afternoon, December 10th.

Officials say everything unfolded shortly before 3:30 p.m. when a 911 call was made for a disturbance. The disturbance was not at the town hall location.

The suspect vehicle was located near the Algoma Town Hall -- where there was an officer-involved shooting.

Winnebago County Sheriff's officials say the shooting involved one officer from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office -- and one officer from the Oshkosh Police Department.

The man who was shot was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown.

The investigation into this incident has been turned over to the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation.

Officials insist there is no danger to the public at this point.
