35-year-old man dies after single-car crash in South Milwaukee

SOUTH MILWAUKEE -- Police in South Milwaukee are investigating a fatal crash that happened at the intersection of 10th Ave. and Marquette early Saturday, December 19th.

Officials responded to the intersection shortly after 6:30 a.m. They say the single vehicle involved in the wreck traveled through the intersection and struck a fire hydrant, a traffic light standard, and then a utility pole at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was eastbound in the westbound lane at the time of the crash.

The sole occupant of the vehicle, identified by authorities as 35-year-old David Kelly of Waukesha, was still in his seat belt and breathing at the time when police arrived.

The South Milwaukee Fire Department responded and Flight for Life was requested. However, Kelly died in the ambulance at the scene.

The South Milwaukee Police Department is being assisted by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation.
