MENOMONEE FALLS -- Three teens from Milwaukee are in custody for allegedly carjacking a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Froedtert North Hills Health Center in Menomonee Falls on Monday, December 21st. The suspects in this case are barely old enough to drive.
Police say the crime happened 5:30 p.m. at the health center -- a busy time in a busy area.
"I never thought it would happen up there. I never would have thought about it. I`m surprised. Like I say, I walk my dogs through there every other day. To hear something like that going on so close is scary," Gary Schopp said.
Police say three subjects, a 17-year-old black female, a 16-year-old black female, and a 16-year-old black male, arrived in a vehicle that was reported stolen in an armed robbery incident in Milwaukee on December 19th.
The female victim was approached by the 16-year-old black male who brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s keys and personal property. The victim immediately relinquished her keys and personal property. The suspects took personal property before fleeing in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim was then able to flee from the scene unharmed.
Officers from the Menomonee Falls Police Department, the Milwaukee Police Department, and the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area.
The victim’s vehicle was recovered abandoned within a mile of the incident nine minutes after the initial report.
Residents in the area reported suspicious persons in the neighborhood -- and within an hour, the three suspects were taken into custody.
Nobody was injured during this incident.
Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin officials issued this statement:
We are relieved and grateful that no one was injured. Our thanks to the Menomonee Falls and Milwaukee Police Departments and the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department for their quick action.
