We Energies crews dealing with several power outages Wednesday night amid high winds

MILWAUKEE -- A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of southeastern Wisconsin until 6:00 a.m. Thursday, December 24th -- and on Wednesday night, We Energies crews were dealing with a number of power outages.

As of 10:30 p.m., there were 3,500 customers without power -- down from 5,500 customers.

About 2,600 of those customers without power were on the northwest side of Milwaukee.

This outage was caused by a damaged piece of equipment.

That piece of equipment was in the area between 76th-80th Streets, and between Center Street and North Avenue.

A separate outage in Waterford left 2,500 without power at its peak, but as of 10:30 p.m., that number was down to 300.

A cause of that outage is under investigation.

An outage was affecting about 400 people in Fox Point as well -- and We Energies crews were dealing with other scattered outages.

The outages happened between 9:15-9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

It's unclear at this point whether the high winds played any role in these outages.
