Wisconsin Supreme Court suspends lawyer who defended Jeffrey Dahmer

MADISON— The state Supreme Court has suspended the lawyer who defended serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer for two months over a series of ethics violations.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation alleged six counts of misconduct against Gerald Boyle. Five of the counts stem from a case in which a client hired Boyle to help recover money spent on John Lennon memorabilia he suspected was fake. The OLR alleged Boyle improperly deposited advance fees and didn't aggressively pursue the case. The remaining count alleges he improperly deposited an advance fee from a client he was defending in a criminal case.

A referee recommended the court suspend Boyle's licenses for 60 days. The court voted 7-1 Wednesday to adopt the recommendation.

Boyle didn't immediately return a voicemail left at his office.
