"It's about hope:" Shalom Ministries hosts outdoor service for those in need on Christmas Eve

MILWAUKEE -- While some gathered around the table in their homes on Christmas Eve, others enjoyed a meal outdoors.

Shalom Ministries hosted an outdoor service on Thursday night, December 24th to help give those in need a Christmas Eve they may not have had otherwise.

They gathered outside the St. Vincent de Paul Meal Program and handed out coats, gloves, hats and other Christmas goodies.

A Christmas meal was also served.

"It's about hope. The food the clothing and all those essential items are very very important to the people. But more than anything it's the message of hope that goes behind giving those items. It's to hope and know that people are loved," Tony Vento, senior pastor with Shalom Ministries said.

This is the 12th year the group has organized this Christmas Eve outreach event.
