"It's exciting:" Stores roll out the clearance as shoppers hunt for deals one day after Christmas

OAK CREEK -- Christmas Day might be behind us but the celebration and shopping continues. Shoppers can expect big crowds if they head out to stores as many make returns, while others are in search of a good deal.

As many shops reopen on Saturday, December 26th they role out the red stickers.

"We have a lot of great clearance deals going on," said Polly Emelander, Meijer store director.

That includes an additional 25% off of the already low prices.

"It's an opportunity for the customer to come in and replenish and it's an opportunity for us to clean up and start setting for Valentine's and and Easter, and planning for the next season," said Emelander.

And many keen bargain hunters are taking advantage of the deals -- including James Crum.

"Every year, yeah, every year. She's always looking for good deals," said Crum.

He's talking about his wife who is hunting down the good deals.

"See, see! Did you see her? We need to catch her," said Crum.

Crum's job is to push the cart.

Many retailers say December 26th, rivals Black Friday as the busiest shopping day of the year.

For one mother-daughter duo, they've made after-Christmas shopping a tradition the past ten years.

"Right after Christmas...we come out and look for our deals for next year possibly," said Nicole Constantine, shopper.

They stock up on wrapping paper and holiday decorations for next year.

"We have places to keep them all so we have bins all set up already and put them away until next year, and then it's exciting next year to bring them out," said Constantine.

This is Meijer's first holiday season in Wisconsin and many shoppers appreciate the early hours.

"We were pretty excited it opened at 6:00 a.m. -- we got here right away and got to check it out," said Constantine.

While Meijer is back open 24-hours a day, many other retailers have stopped their extended holiday shopping hours.

Also important to note with all the returns expected on Saturday, stores are being extra careful when it comes to fraud -- shoppers should be prepared to show proper I.D. if making returns.
