83-63: Marquette Golden Eagles have nine-game winning streak snapped by Seton Hall

MILWAUKEE  — Desi Rodriguez scored a career-high 19 points, and Khadeen Carrington had 17 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals to help Seton Hall beat Marquette 83-63 Wednesday night, December 30th in a Big East opener.


Seton Hall (11-2), which won its first-ever game at Marquette last season, won its sixth straight contest while the Golden Eagles (10-3) had their nine-game winning streak snapped.

Carrington had a half-court heave rim out at the buzzer as Seton Hall trailed 40-39. But the Pirates held Marquette to just 25.8 percent shooting in the second half, holding them to 23 points.

Isaiah Whitehead added 16 points, five rebounds and seven assists for Seton Hall. Angel Delgado had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Haanif Cheatham scored 17 points for Marquette.

Cheatham pulled Marquette to 59-52 with nine minutes left, but Seton Hall went on a 14-2 run before the Golden Eagles' made their next field goal at the 3:11 mark.
