"Someplace Better:" Sheboygan Co. officials announce rebranding campaign in an effort to fill jobs
SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan County's job market can't get much better. It is one of the fastest growing markets in the state. The bad news is, employers can't find workers to fill the jobs.
One by one on Tuesday, January 5th, Sheboygan County business leaders outlined the situation they're in -- including executives from the Kohler Company, Bemis Manufacturing, Sargento Foods and Aurora Health Care, to name a few.
"We currently have 20 full-time positions available," a Bemis Manufacturing official said.
"Well over 300 employees will be added," a Sargento official said.

These business leaders are working with the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce to set a course of action. Chamber officials say the job market is flooded. There are more open positions than job seekers in Sheboygan County.

"This initiative is specially designed to help solve the challenges employers are telling us they are having," Dane Dane Checolinski with the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation said.
On Tuesday, Chamber of Commerce and SCEDC officials revealed a new branding campaign for the county, titled "Someplace Better." It is designed to encourage people to take a good look at Sheboygan County for their next move.
Sheboygan County officials are now enlisting employers to steer prospective hires to "SomeplaceBetter.org."
"It's a regional campaign right now and it could become more aggressive in the future if it expands its geographic boundaries," Sheboygan Mayor Michael Vandersteen said.
The website chronicles Sheboygan County's selling points, targeting both blue and white collar employees.
"We're hoping we can capture those people and make Sheboygan their home," Mayor Vandersteen said.

Officials hope the new website redefines the opportunities available to those considering a career change, or those looking for a job.
Chamber of Commerce officials said on Tuesday there were about 1,600 positions available.
