Classes will resume Thursday at St. Joan Antida High School after water main break

MILWAUKEE -- St. Joan Antida High School on Milwaukee's east side was closed Wednesday, January 13th due to a water main break near the school.

We're told the school will reopen on Thursday, January 14th.

Paul Gessner, the head of school for St. Joan Antida High School tells FOX6 News the water main break was a result of a problem with the lateral pipe that went from the city of Milwaukee hookup into the school.

The initial estimate provided to fix this pipe is $5,000 to $10,000.

There was no damage to the school.

Gessner told FOX6 News that because St. Joan Antida has a longer than normal school day, they'll be able to absorb the missed day into the school year without having to make it up.

Water poured into the road at the corner of Ogden Avenue and Cass Street as a result of this water main break.

What exactly caused the issue with the lateral pipe, leading to the water main break, is unknown -- but it was cold outside on Wednesday.
