Recovery efforts resume on Fox River for 39-year-old man, last seen on Friday

WINNEBAGO COUNTY -- Winnebago County sheriff's officials said Monday, January 18th recovery efforts are resuming on the Fox River for a man last seen Friday, January 15th.

The 39-year-old man was staying at a cabin along the river and went looking for his dog. Authorities say tracks were found on the river leading to open water.

The bitter cold temperatures are making it tough to search underwater because sonar equipment is freezing. Dive team members have been rotating in and out of the water to keep them safe.

Sheriff's Lt. Gordon Ledioyt says the weather will dictate whether divers will be back in the water Monday. The search on the Fox is in the Town of Rushford, about six miles west of Omro.
