MILWAUKEE — K-9 teams were called out to inspect the Vel Phillips Juvenile Justice facility on Watertown Plank Road late last week following reports of bed bugs at the facility.

A Milwaukee County spokeswoman says the “hits” were concentrated around one work station that’s not in a public area.

A professional pest management team treated the affected area.

The spokeswoman says this incident seems to be a case where bed bugs were brought into the building from outside.

Facilities management officials continue to maintain an aggressive pest control prevention and treatment plan, the spokeswoman said.
