Mazanec is perfect again in Admirals win

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Goalie Marek Mazanec recorded a 19 save shutout to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 1-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters Saturday afternoon.

The shutout was Mazanec’ third of the season and seventh of his career. The shutout moved him past Scott Darling on the Admirals AHL shutouts list into sixth place.

Like the previous game, the Admirals scored the first goal with a power play tally at 12:16 of the second period. Also like the previous game, the goal was scored by defenseman Stefan Elliott. Elliott’s shot from the top of the left circle pinged off both posts and into the net for his second goal of the season. Taylor Aronson and Frederick Gaudreau recorded the assists.

The Admirals improved to 4-1-1-0 against Lake Erie this season. The teams will play two more games against each other in March. Both games will be in Cleveland.

Milwaukee’s next game is Sat., Jan. 30 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
