Firefighters called out to house fire near 15th & Indiana in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN -- Sheboygan County Sheriff's officials confirmed for FOX6 News that firefighters were on the scene of a house fire near 15th and Indiana Avenue on Tuesday night, January 26th.

The call for this fire came in around 6:45 p.m.

Fire units arrived on scene within five minutes to find the home surrounded in a heavy blanket of smoke.

The occupants of the lower unit were accounted for upon firefighters' arrival.

Intense heat, smoke and fire prohibited firefighters from entering and searching the upper two units immediately, despite repeated attempts. The fire’s intensity eventually drove fire personnel from the structure and the fire was fought from the exterior.

Eventually the fire department was able to determine that there were no occupants in the upper apartments at the time of the fire.

There are no injuries to report as a result of this incident.

The Black River Fire Department and the Village of Kohler Fire Department responded to assist with the extinguishment of this fire. Alliant Energy personnel responded and assisted in securing the power to the building.

All of the occupants of this home were displaced as a result of the extensive damage and were assisted by the American Red Cross at the scene.

The damage to the structure and its contents is estimated in excess of $100,000.
