George Clooney steps up, adopts dog in Ohio no one wanted

CLEVELAND -- A shelter dog from Ohio that no one seemed to want has been rescued by a family of A-listers.

Nate the terrier was rescued from his original owner, who was described as a hoarder.

Nate has a birth defect that affects his leg, and no one wanted to adopt him. He stayed at Luv For Mutts, a rescue group in Fairfield, Ohio, according to WJW.

In a post on Facebook, the rescue said:

"When we took Nate to adoption events, people would stare and kids would point," the post says. "Several people applied to adopt him but then said no when they met him. He was with us 9 months. The lowest point came when an adopter cried when she met him and said she would be depressed the rest of her life if she had to look at him every day."

Little did anyone know, actor George Clooney and his wife, Amal, were following Nate's videos online. The post says:

"Why could they not see what we saw in him," the post says. "A handsome, charming, sweet and normal little boy. Little did we know someone had been ogling over him for a while watching his videos and reading his profile."

The couple adopted him for Clooney's parents  for Christmas. They'd recently lost their terrier of 10 years. They quickly fell in love with Nate.

"What is impressive is the fact that George picked Nate out and Nick and Nina accepted Nate just the way he is," the post says. "They could have any dog in the world but they chose to adopt a dog who was crippled and could have been with LuvFurMutts for life. Those of us who grew up listening to Nick's voice on TV and awing at how beautiful Nina is, have also witnessed how they have always given back to their community."

Nate is now living out his days with Nick and Nina Clooney in Kentucky.
