Green Bay Packers: Coach McCarthy won't attend Pro Bowl due to stomach illness

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers have announced Head Coach Mike McCarthy will not attend the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

McCarthy is suffering from a stomach illness, and doctors have advised him not to travel at this time.

Associate Head Coach/Linebackers Winston Moss will handle his head-coaching responsibilities at the Pro Bowl for the remainder of the week.

The Pro Bowl is set for Sunday, January 31st at 6:00 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.

The Packers staff will coach one team and the staff of the Kansas City Chiefs will be on the other sideline.

Rosters will be assigned after a Pro Bowl draft set for Wednesday night with Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin serving as the non-playing captains.

Players were selected without regard to conference in voting by fans, coaches and players, a format first used in the 2014 game.

Three Green Bay Packers players were initially selected for the Pro Bowl: Linebacker Clay Matthews, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and guard Josh Sitton.

Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn was named to the Pro Bowl on December 29th.

On January 20th, it was announced Aaron Rodgers will not take part in the Pro Bowl due to injury. Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was added to the Pro Bowl roster as an injury replacement for Rodgers.

LB Julius Peppers was added to the Pro Bowl roster on January 25th -- replacing Denver Broncos LB Von Miller, who is unable to participate due to advancing to the Super Bowl.
