Man arrested after leading authorities on 20-mile pursuit in Sheboygan County

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- An 18-year-old man was taken into custody Wednesday, January 27th after leading authorities on a 20-mile pursuit in Sheboygan County.

The pursuit began around 10:45 p.m. when a Sheboygan County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on County Road U near County Road T in the Town of Greenbush in regards to a check welfare complaint.

When the deputy activated his emergency lights and siren, the male operator of the suspect vehicle failed to stop and led deputies and other law enforcement agencies on a 20-mile pursuit through the Towns of Greenbush, Mitchell and Plymouth on the western side of Sheboygan County.

At times speeds of the pursuit reached 75 m.p.h.

The pursuit ended when a deputy was able to use a tire deflation device (Spike Strip), which deflated three of the four tires on the suspect vehicle.

A 18-year-old male and lone occupant was taken into custody without incident.

After the investigation was completed, the male was taken to the Sheboygan County Detention Center and will be referred to the District Attorney’s office on a Felony Charge of Vehicle Operator Fleeing / Eluding an Officer.

There was no property damage or injuries reported as a result of the pursuit.

No further information will be released until charges have been filed.
