BROWN DEER — Brown Deer police are investigating a fatal crash that happened late on Saturday night, February 13th — just before midnight near 60th and Brown Deer Road. This is the third fatal crash to occur in Brown Deer in just about a week’s time.

The crash involved two vehicles.

Police determined the driver of the striking vehicle was headed northbound on N. 60th Street and went through a red light — striking a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on West Brown Deer Road.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck, a 25-year-old Hustisford woman, was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the striking vehicle, a 25-year-old Milwaukee man, also suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital.

Police say it is believed the driver of the striking vehicle was impaired.

Charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office this week.

A portion of West Brown Deer Road was shut down during this investigation.

This is the third fatal crash to occur in about a week’s time in Brown Deer.

Last Friday night, February 5th, a crash involving three vehicles and a wrong-way driver happened near Green Bay Road and Deerwood Drive. The wrong-way driver died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash on February 11th. He was identified as 59-year-old Charles Washington of Milwaukee.

20-year-old Kierra Monei Jackson and 22-year-old Fredericka Owens-Wright were killed when Monei Jackson seemingly lost control and left the roadway near Dean and Teutonia. The vehicle rolled at least once, and the medical examiner’s report indicates it struck an electrical box and phone box before coming to a stop in a tree line just south of the intersection of Dean and Teutonia. A third woman was taken to the hospital for treatment following this crash. She was listed in critical condition.

Sad to hear another person being killed in a crash in Brown Deer this weekend. Makes me wonder if the driver that was killed was wearing her seat belt as she was ejected from the car. More patrols by the BD police are not totally the answer to these crashes. People need to use their heads and not drive while impaired as it sounds like the striking vehicle was.
