MPD: Two arrested in Riverwest attempted armed robbery; third suspect sought

MILWAUKEE -- With the help of an alert eyewitness, Milwaukee police officers arrested two suspects who tried to rob two victims in the Riverwest neighborhood. They are seeking a third suspect.

According to police, a male and female victim were standing outside a business near N. Weil Street and E. Center Street around 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd when they were approached by three male suspects. One of the suspects was armed with a gun and demanded belongings from both victims.

The victims refused to give the suspects their belongings and the male victim began to fight with one of the suspects before the suspects fled from the scene on foot.

An eyewitness flagged down a responding MPD squad and pointed in the direction of where the suspects fled.

Officers took two of the three suspects into custody near Fratney and Center, and are still searching for the third suspect. The arrested suspects include a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both from Milwaukee.

This case will be presented in the coming days to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
