Study: Cereal sales on the decline, partly because millennials think it's "too much work"

Sales of breakfast cereal are falling in the United States -- and the reason may surprise you.

A new study has found that many millennials think having a bowl of cereal is just too much work.

According to the report in the New York Times, nearly half of those in the millennial generation never eat cereal.

Some say they don't think it's healthy.

Others say they prefer breakfast items that are more portable and can be eaten on the go.

A full 40% said the cleanup -- including washing a bowl and spoon was just too much work.
