Officials: Bicyclist struck and killed in accident near N. 65th & Hampton



MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee officials say a man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a pickup truck near N. 65th and Hampton Avenue Friday, March 4th.

The call to officials came in at approximately 8:40 p.m.

According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, both the pickup truck and man on the bicycle were traveling westbound on Hampton Avenue at the time of the crash.

Milwaukee police say at one point, the bicyclist moved into traffic to get around a parked car when he was struck from behind by a 1998 Chevy 1500 pickup truck.

According to police, the victim, identified as 48-year-old Robert Wiske, died on scene despite life-saving efforts of officers and firefighters.

The driver of the truck, a 47-year-old Milwaukee man, remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.
