Delavan lieutenant ordered to stand trial on charges of strangulation, battery, disorderly conduct

WALWORTH COUNTY -- A Delavan police lieutenant charged with strangulation, battery and disorderly conduct has been ordered to stand trial in the case against him.

44-year-old Todd Wiese is facing three charges:

Wiese was in court on Tuesday, March 8th for his preliminary hearing. During that hearing, probable cause was found that a felony has been committed, and Wiese was ordered to stand trial. He has pleaded not guilty.

Wiese will next be in court on April 22nd for his final pre-trial hearing.

The charges stem from an incident that happened at Wiese's home early on December 19th. The Delavan Police Department requested assistance from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office shortly before 3 a.m. on that date. This was in response to an investigation involving Wiese and an adult female acquaintance.

Through the course of the investigation, Wiese was arrested and confined in the Waukesha County Jail.

    Wiese is on administrative leave.
