Moody Park on city's north side nominated for award after $2 million revitalization

MILWAUKEE -- Some big changes have been made to a park on Milwaukee's north side, and now it has been nominated for an award.

Moody Park is a Milwaukee County park, located at 19th and Burleigh.

On Wednesday, March 9th, it was nominated for a Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development award.

The nomination came after a $2 million revitalization plan that was completed in late 2015.

It was a collaboration between Milwaukee County officials and community groups.

"Crime is down. People are going to be so happy this summer because their kids can go and come to this park and play and have a wonderful time, so it was long overdue," Arlene Patterson with Amani United said.

Some of the changes made to the park include a new community building, a splash pad, shaded seating, three basketball courts, a multi-gym exercise structure, open space for sports practices, walking paths and a multi-use, open-air shelter.
