Early morning fire damages store, apartments near 1st & Burleigh; no one hurt

MILWAUKEE — Firefighters on Thursday morning, March 10th were called to the scene of a structure fire near 1st and Burleigh.

The fire broke out around 1:15 a.m. at a two-story building that houses Russell’s Food on the first floor and apartments on the second floor.

Investigators believe the flames started on the second floor of the building  — and then burned through the ceiling of the first floor.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
