Milwaukee police: Two teens arrested in northwest side carjacking

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police arrested two teenagers wanted for a northwest side carjacking after they crashed the stolen car they were riding in.

The pair stole a 2011 Honda Odyssey near 54th Street and Keefe Avenue around 8:20 a.m. on March 17th.

According to the victim, a 44-year-old Milwaukee man, the two suspects approached him, demanded the car at gunpoint, and then fled from the scene in the Odyssey.

The suspects are then believed to have committed a similar armed robbery about 15 minutes later in the 1900 block of N. 36th Street. Around 1:00 p.m., officers saw the stolen Odyssey in the area of N. 55th Street and W. Hampton Avenue.

A pursuit was initiated and the suspects crashed the car in the 3300 block of N. 51st Street. The suspects fled from the car but were arrested following a short foot chase. Officers also found a sawed off rifle inside the car and one of the suspects had on him property that belonged to the victim in the Odyssey carjacking.

The suspects arrested are two 16-year-old males and MPD is searching for a possible third suspect. One of the teens has previous arrests for entry into a locked vehicle and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent.

The case against the two arrested suspects will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charges in the coming days.
