Olivia Newton-John's boyfriend found alive – 11 years after disappearance, report claims

Olivia Newton-John's former boyfriend has been spotted alive in Mexico, 11 years after he vanished, according to a new report Monday.

Private investigator Philip Klein made the bombshell claim, saying he learned Patrick McDermott, who was last seen June 30, 2005 on a fishing boat near San Pedro, California, is now living in a small village in Mexico near Puerto Vallarta.

FOX News has reported in the past that McDermott had faked his own death after filing for bankruptcy.

The private detective blasted those reports, saying there wasn't evidence to back it up.

"His lawyer called from Mexico City and said that Patrick didn't want to be bothered. He hadn't faked anything. He just wanted to get away from the drama," Klein told Australian magazine "Woman's Day."

News of McDermott's whereabouts swirled after his disappearance. The first detective to investigate, John Nazarian, told the publication:

"It's rumored he was with a German national. I spoke to people there (in Mexico). The girl he was traveling with was described as having a German accent. To come up with the conclusion that he fell off the boat, and allegedly no one saw him fall off the boat, is the most preposterous thing I've ever heard in my life."
