DHS officials: 59 cases of Elizabethkingia bloodstream infection in Wisconsin since November

The Elizabethkingia outbreak is growing in Wisconsin -- with five more cases reported since last week, according to Wisconsin Department of Health Services officials.

That brings the total number of cases in Wisconsin to 59 since the start of November.

At least 18 of those cases have been fatal.

Health officials are still trying to determine the source of the bloodstream infection.

The majority of patients are over the age of 65, and have underlying health conditions.
