Warrant issued for suspect's arrest after several burglaries of unlocked homes in Whitefish Bay

WHITEFISH BAY -- Whitefish Bay police are warning residents about a rash of burglaries involving a suspect entering unlocked homes while they were occupied.

Four burglaries occurred in Whitefish Bay during a two-week period, and Whitefish Bay police said it is believed there were two burglaries in Shorewood committed by the same suspect.

Whitefish Bay police have increased staffing and patrols in an effort to stop these burglaries.

Police said they were able to identify a suspect, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police say the suspect has "numerous previous arrests for burglary" and he has served time in prison as a result.

The suspect is believed to be operating a 2011 black Volkswagen Jetta station wagon with Wisconsin license plate: 613-ERE. The vehicle has a bicycle rack on the back.

Police say these burglaries have occurred throughout the village, typically in the evening, however, according to police, a vehicle the suspect was using, which is now in police custody, was observed at the scene of a burglary in Shorewood at 6:00 a.m.
