MILWAUKEE — Michigan assistant coach LaVall Jordan has been hired as the new head basketball coach of the Milwaukee Panthers, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

In his five seasons in Ann Arbor, Jordan helped the Wolverine program to four straight NCAA Tournament bids, including a trip to the 2013 Final Four.

According to the University of Michigan Athletic site, prior to joining the Wolverine program, Jordan spent three years at Iowa (2007-10) as an assistant coach under former Hawkeye head coach Todd Lickliter. Prior to his arrival at Iowa, Jordan spent four years coaching at his alma mater, Butler (2003-07), as an assistant coach for three seasons (2004-07) and as the coordinator of basketball operations for one season (2003-04).

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Athletic Director on March 17th fired Rob Jeter, the beloved Panthers men’s basketball coach.

Despite leading the Panthers to 20 wins, including a road victory over the Wisconsin Badgers this season, Jeter was out after 11 seasons, with one year left on his contract, amid reports of a contentious relationship, or a non-existent one between coach and AD.

A statement posted on the MKEPanthers.comwebsite on Thursday, March 17th reads as follows:

“Rob has always put the interests of our student-athletes first and has represented our program and the university with class over the last 11 years. I thank him and his staff for their contributions. After a thorough review, I have decided that a change in leadership of our men’s basketball program is needed to help us achieve our goal of consistently being a top program in the Horizon League.”
