"It's really important:" American Cancer Society event provides free health screenings

MILWAUKEE -- Making your health a reality -- that was the focus of an American Cancer Society event on Saturday, April 30th at North Division High School.

The 12th annual Sankofa Health and Wellness Forum included health screenings for blood pressure, HIV, and BMI -- and workshops on cancer awareness and men's health.

They also addressed health disparities through the promotion of education, prevention, and early detection.

"It's our opportunity to educate communities, communities that are medically underserved, who might not otherwise get this information, so it's really important for us to do this," said Michelle Hinton, American Cancer Society.

The event also featured a recording artist, Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole -- and FOX6's very own Beverly Taylor was honored to serve as the emcee for the event.
