Sought by police: Angel Medina-Santiago charged in fatal stabbing on Milwaukee's south side

Angel Medina-Santiago

MILWAUKEE -- 34-year-old Angel Medina-Santiago of Milwaukee is a wanted man -- and when authorities track him down, he already faces a criminal charge of first-degree reckless homicide in connection with the fatal stabbing of Anthony Garcia-Cortez.

According to the criminal complaint, Medina-Santiago and Garcia-Cortez got into an argument outside of the Tequila Night Club on S. Muskego Ave. around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30th. A witness told police he saw a man arguing with Garcia-Cortez holding a knife. At one point, he heard the man say, "I will gut you." That witness then "saw the man with the knife swing his hand toward Garcia's chest and he then saw blood on Garcia's shirt. He then ran over and pushed the man away and saw that the man had the knife in his hand."

Garcia-Cortez at that point apparently ran from the scene. He collapsed a short distance away where he died from his injuries despite the life-saving efforts of the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Medina-Santiago was later identified by witnesses from a photo array -- but again, he is not yet in custody.
