Elderly man dies weeks after being assaulted on Milwaukee's north side; suspect sought

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the death of 82-year-old Abbas Yasin.

Yasin was assaulted on the evening of March 17th near Sherman and Burleigh -- after a confrontation on a Milwaukee County bus. Officials say the incident resulted in a traumatic brain bleed and Yasin died from his injuries at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday morning, May 9th.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is now investigating this death as a homicide. An autopsy was performed -- and the cause of death is pending further studies and review of medical records.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee police say the suspect accused of striking Yasin is described as a male, black, between the ages of 15 and 17, standing 5'6" tall and weighing 140 pounds with a thin build and dreadlocks. He was wearing a blue jogging jacket with white stripes.

MPD would also like to attempt to identify the female witness seen with the suspect. She is described as a black female, between the ages of 15 and 17, weighing 180 pounds with her hair pulled back. She was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt.
