Jordy Nelson, Donald Driver, Melvin Gordon advocate adoption at "Jockey Being Family" gala

LAKE GENEVA -- Former and current Wisconsin football players were in Lake Geneva Sunday, May 15th support and advocate for adoption.

Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson and Melvin Gordon attended the "Jockey Being Family" gala in Lake Geneva.

Jockey Being Family provides post-adoption resources and support for adoptive families.

Jordy Nelson adopted a son about a year ago, and Driver has been a long-time advocate of adoption.

They say the program is great for kids.

"What they're doing is giving kids an opportunity to have life and to be happy and to be enjoyable, and that's what it's all about. Giving these kids some type of voice and this is an opportunity for them to have it," Nelson said.

"I think a lot of it is just having someone to talk to. There's a lot of unknowns when you adopt a child," Driver said.

Gordon became an ambassador for Jockey Being Family in January. Nelson has accepted the same role this month.
