RHP Chase Anderson throws amazing game in Brewers 4-2 victory over Cubs
MILWAUKEE — Right-handed pitcher Chase Anderson allowed just three hits in the Milwaukee Brewers' 4-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park on Tuesday, May 17th.
Anderson threw seven complete innings of shut-out baseball. However, the "no-no" was broken up in the eighth inning -- when the first pitch Anderson threw was smacked into deep center field for a double.
Anderson, who has lost five straight starts, was perfect through five innings before he walked Miguel Montero with one out in the sixth.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis made a leaping catch at the wall in center field to open the fourth inning, robbing Dexter Fowler of an extra-base hit and preserving the no-hit bid.
The Brewers scored their four runs on a solo home run by Jonathan Lucroy, an RBI single by Ryan Braun and a two-run double by Chris Carter.
In the Cubs' half of the 9th inning, Chicago hit back-to-back homeruns -- forcing the Brewers to pull Anderson from the mound. But that is where the scoring ended. Milwaukee wrapped up the game with a 4-2 victory.
For the record, Anderson took a no-hit bid into the seventh on June 12 last season with Arizona against San Francisco. He ended up allowing one hit over seven innings in a 1-0 win.
